Ecommerce SEO services for stores with real catalogues

Our ecommerce SEO services handle search problems ordinary websites don't have, such as thousands of near-duplicate filter URLs and products that come and go. Those are engineering problems, and we're engineers.

What our ecommerce SEO covers

Category pages. These usually target the most valuable searches in a store, like "men's running shoes." We make sure they have the right titles, useful copy, sensible internal links and products that match the search.

Filter and faceted navigation. Colour, size and sort options can create huge numbers of URLs that waste Google's attention. We decide which deserve to rank, such as a popular brand filter, and keep the rest out of the way.

Product pages. Unique titles and descriptions where they matter most, plus Product structured data for price, availability and reviews so that you're eligible for richer results.

Merchant listings. We check that your product data lines up with Google Merchant Center, since free listings can appear beyond the regular results.

Out-of-stock and discontinued products. Temporarily unavailable products usually stay live. Permanently gone ones should redirect to a close match or return a proper "gone" response. We put rules in place, so this doesn't become a monthly fire.

Speed. Product images, scripts and third-party apps are the usual causes. We can fix them directly.

Buying guides. Content that answers questions shoppers ask before they buy, and links to the right categories.

Keyword research that follows the money

We start from your margins as well as search volume. A smaller search for a high-margin category can be worth far more than a popular term for something you barely profit on. We'd rank those opportunities with you, not for you.

Platforms

We work with Shopify and custom builds, and can review other platforms too. Hosted platforms limit some changes, so we'll tell you what's possible before you commit. If your platform itself is the problem, we also do ecommerce development.

How we start

  1. Crawl the store. To see how many URLs exist compared with how many should.
  2. Check Search Console. To find out what's indexed, what's excluded and what already earns clicks.
  3. Size the opportunity. By category, using search data and your margins.
  4. Fix and build. Technical problems first, since they hold back everything else.

What we won't promise

We won't guarantee rankings or revenue. Results depend on your catalogue, prices, competitors and site history. Larger catalogues also take longer, because Google has to recrawl more pages.

Common questions

Should we write unique descriptions for every product?

Not always, in a large catalogue. We start with the products and categories that bring in the most revenue, then decide what else is worth the cost.

Can you work with our SEO apps or plugins?

Yes. We'll often remove some too, since overlapping apps can slow the store down or add conflicting tags.
